This coat is loosely derived from the 1940s man-tailored coats that adorned my ancestors - both male and female - in photos from the time. The cotton cross-weave outer was found at a deadstock upholstery fabric supplier, and after a rummage through my remnant stash, I found some faux leather and nylon lace to use as trim. The shoulder pads, front patch pockets, and half-belted back put together with the leather-look and lace, give the coat an update, while the oversized matching Aztec buttons - complete with a bejeweled brooch - elevate the arrangement. The charming pastel-coloured floral lining, finished with a striped webbing trim and a painted portrait at the back neck, rounds out the ensemble.
Composition: cotton/poly
Dry-cleaning recommended
One Size - fit size 10-12
Chest – 110 cm
Length – 102 cm
Across dropped shoulders – 42 cm with ½”shoulder pads
Sleeve length from shoulder seam - 58 cm plus 5cm roll up cuff
